01 3 Inches Of Blood - Destroy The Orcs
This song from a defunct Canadian power metal band is the theme to my favorite podcast, Brian Posehn's Nerd Poker. Every time I hear the ripping intro of this tune I get pumped up to hear comedians play dungeons and dragons. It makes me so happy. (O))))

02 Flying Lotus - GNG BNG
This Flying Lotus album is one I always keep going back to. Somehow it's managed to stay pretty fresh 12 years on, despite seeming like it came from another planet. If you have the time, check out the videos that Tim and Eric did for him, they're really something else. (JC)

03 Iggy Pop - I'm Bored
I'm the Chairman of the Bored. Even by Iggy's standards this song is snide and snotty! And that says a lot. Its really funny too. That dude certainly can write lyrics. From the album New Values released by Arista records in 1979. (B)

04 PUP - Nothing Changes
New, nice, tight album out last week (as I write this) from Toronto punks PUP called THIS PLACE SUCKS ASS. They've been getting more produced and dynamic in their approach and it's really refining the output of a band that has always nailed things from emotional/energy perspective for me. Love these guys. (O))))

05 Songs: Ohia - Farewell Transmission
Jason Molina is probably the closest thing to a modern day Neil Young. His songwriting was incredible and he could put some serious feeling into his music like few can. He released a staggering amount of music before he died. This track in particular really hits the spot. Seven plus minutes of a heavy, slow burn. (JC)

06 Headroom - How to Grow Evil Flowers
Y'all need 10 minutes of nobody singing with highly distorted guitar over droning, repetition. It's 2020 for christsakes, tune out for a bit. (JC)

07 Sleep - Antarcticans Thawed
During those dark years when everyone assumed that the mighty Sleep would never return to bring us the music, we dreamed of what new sounds from this powerful trio could feel like. And then after 10 silent years they reappeared out of the fog. What was it 2012 or 13? They played live shows, and from bootleg tapes that floated around a brand new song appeared. Flash forward to April 20, 2018 and they surprised us all with their first new album in 13 years on less than 24 hours notice. This song that we had heard live versions of was present and accounted for. Great title, heavy as a mountain of bedrock, and perfect for the times we live in. From the album The Sciences, released by Third Man Records, in the year 2018. (B)

08 Stiff Little Fingers - Alternative Ulster
I know this is a classic, but I'd never heard it until Bruce played it for me on a road trip a few years ago. I'm not sure a full week's gone by since where I haven't thought about the guitar tone in this song. (O))))

09 Sturgill Simpson - Just Let Go
If there was any news earlier this year that Sturgill Simpson was going to follow up his last album (a psych-rock concept album that ruled) with a bunch of new bluegrass music, I missed it. The whole thing is terrific, and you can spend days listening to the music of every member of the band of absolute murderers that got put together to make this record. (O))))

10 John Coltrane - Giant Steps (alternate, take 8)
I can barely imagine a legendary jazz sax player releasing a song on a 7" 45rpm vinyl record. Back in the day, maybe, maybe, most likely no chance. But today anything is gloriously possible. From a reissue of Coltrane's first album (of six) on the Atlantic record label Giant Steps. Originally released in 1960, and reissued summer 2020. (B)

11 Juana Molina - Paraguaya
In winter 2020 I first heard Juana playing a cover of one of her own songs. This very song in her own "punk style." It was really cool. Very stripped down and crammed with energy. Then I heard the original, nothing like that. All subtle and sinewy. Nearly perfect. From Buenos Aires Argentine and the album Halo, released in 2017 on Crammed Disc records. (B)

12 Clinic - Miss You II
Sometimes I need to stop thinking completely, and boy oh boy, Clinic helps me do that quick. This track is a reworking of a track they released a year before this one. Put on some good headphones and absolutely withdraw from this world. (JC)
